24/7 ??? you must have some crazy algae. I think 10-12 hours is recommended for most setups. For reefs its a different story i think.

Do you have fish in there with the 24/7 lighting? If so I would highly recomend rethinking your light strategy because your fish will have very short lifes otherwise:(

No your dead on, 10-12 is the recomended amount. Hey cheerflip if you like keeping the tank lit 24/7 you should look into some moonlights for nightime, 50 bucks and they imitate nightime lights(moonlight)

I run the following schedule:
7:00am actinics on
7:30am 1 MH on
8:00am other MH on
6:00pm 1 MH off
6:30pm other MH off
7:00pm actinics off
7:00pm til 7:00am moon light is on.
Fish can suffer from lights being left on 24/7, as well as causing algae problems. All living things need a day and a night for proper health.

Actinics on at 10-Full light at 11-Actinics off at 8-Full light off at 9= 11 total hours,on timers. I don't change anything for D.S.T.,so in the summer light period is 11 to 10.

I turn mine on at 2PM and off at 11PM for total of 9 hours. After reading this, I think I turn them on at 1PM for a 10 hour spread.
