I Am New To Sw I Have Done Fw For Years. Now I Understand The Whole Flowt For Awhile [same In Freshwater] [ I Hardly Ever Did] But Do People Really Do This Acclimation? Is It Absolutly Needed?

everyone on this website will tell you that they acclimate thier fish, 95% of them saying that they do a drip acclimation for at least an hour.
100% neccessary.

I do at least an hour for fish and at least 2 hours for inverts, including corals.

When I first started SW I never acclimated my fish. And more than half of my fish would die until i started acclimating.

Fish definately... Most LFS keep a very low salinity in order to mask the ick disease. One around here is 20 ppm!!!
Corals, it really depends on the type. The only one I drip acclimated was my blue tort. That sucker was to expensive to be lazy.

For me, I acclimate my fish. I acclimate shrimp and stars. I don't acclimate snails or crabs, only temperature acclimate, that's it! I haven't lost any! For Corals, depending on the type. I only temp acclimate all my corals that I have and they're thriving just fine. For certain corals that picky, that's another story.... :happyfish

The drip and airstone method is by far the best, its actually fun to do..
- For the fish, corals are just floating bags...

Yea that's a blue tort, you paid too much for that little guy. I could pay $20 here for a frag of it about the same size. :happyfish

You definately have to acclimate. (you should be quarantining also). I had FW fish for years, never did acclimate the way everyone said to, had no problems. SW fish are just a whole different catagory. :happyfish For the price of everything, really, what is a few hours?

Absolutely acclimate. Why spend all that money to end up having to flush or put in a compost?
While a lot of fish stores don't drip acclimate their new arrivals due to the amount of fish they have going into tanks all at once, they have a lot less to lose than the consumer does, as they are paying wholesale prices and we are paying their mark up.
Awhile back I started getting to know when my LFS was ordering and would buy the fish I wanted before he temperature acclimated them to his tanks.
Since my LFS gives me a pretty good guarantee and he knows my fish get drip acclimated he will still stand behind his guarantee even though they aren't in his QT tank and in mine.
By buying the things I want for the tank as they arrive, I get an additional savings too, as my LFS seems to like not having to do the work.
Just my 2¢ on the subject.
