How many powerheads would I need for a 29G tank?

Two will make it a lot easier to eliminate no-flow areas. But if you are using a hang-on filter and a skimmer, one 300gph+ powerhead should work, though you'll probably need to move things around to eliminate no-flow areas.

i have two maxi 400 in mine about 115gph and a rio 1200 on my protein skimmer. that works good for me.

Look a the seio 620 model power head. It puts out 600GPH in a disperesed flow and would be all you need for your tank.
