Don't buy a three inch tang for a 12 gallon nano because it meets the 1 inch per four gallons rule when it will be 10 inches a year later (if it lives that long). Know the adult size of a fish before you purchase one; fish stores don't always tell you.

True, true.... I should've been more specific.
There are plenty of very attractive fish that stay relatively small. Especially many of the fish in the goby family. As bonebrake stated above, do some research before you begin to stock. :happyfish
