depends on how much live rock you are planning on putting in the tank and substrate also. but me i would put about 5 or six. but why limit yourself to just tangs a whole world of fish out there to discover.

I would go with 5 or 6 tangs, particularly those of the Zebramosa family, IMO they are very interesting and hardy. The purple tangs are lovely, and are also pretty hardy. A tank that size would allow for a nice display tank with a family of tangs as the main attraction.

I have in my 240 a blond naso, naso vlamengii, powder blue, hippo, red sea sailfin. All get along fine. Mix up the family and colors for compatability and looks! Get a big and small angel and you would have an awesome tank.

Mixing tangs is good but be careful if you put a sohal in the mix. They tend to become aggressive with all tangs as they grow. If you mix keep it to three so you can add another larger fish such as an angel. I had a naso, purple and sohal for a while quite successfully. Best of luck :D

I have 3 yellow tangs in a 105 gallon....all are doing fine and they look greaat. I have had no ick problems so apparently they are not stressed. They are pretty active and love to eat plants.
