how many watts do you have?

just curious as to how many watts of lighting everybody has on there tank. if you could also post:
tank depth/ size
type of lighting
types of corals you have under the lighting(sps/lps/clams/polyps etc...)
10k/12k/14k/20k

I have a 46 gal. that is 18 in. deep with 192W PC lighting(10K). My corals are softies, polypls, and LPS towards the top.

I am running 18 inches deep with 265 watts and pretty much stock everything and all of it is growing HUGE. Even after 4-5 months. (PC Lighting too). I havent gotten to SPS corals - thats the only thing.

thanks for the replys guys, kepp them coming. do u think its necessary for mh plus either pc or vho, or do u think i would be alright with just mh?

Metal halides alone are OK, that's what a lot of the LFS around here do. The VHO's (for me) are more for appearance. Aesthetics. If I do not turn on my actinics, my tank looks dingy yellow IMO, but some people like that cause it more closely resembles the real reef waters.

what if i was to get 14k or 20k bulbs, wouldnt that give it a more actinic look?

I got 13K for just that reason. 20K's look bluer, but darker as well. If you do not want to get the VHO's then 14 K will do nicely.

IMO 14k is more pleasing to the eye and and better for the corals, 20K is too blue and not as good for the health of many corals.
