Just doing some more research. How many watts do you guys suggest for a reef 120 gallon? When I have MH do I still need other lighting besides this?
I would like to eventually have clams.

So would the actinic's be like PC lighting? I have 130 watts of PC on my 29 gallon. Could I use that or do I need more? You don't think 2 x250 would be to hot?

from what I think most people would go with 1 MH bulb per 2 feet of tank, and the Watts depends and the hight of the tank and what you whant to keep. how deep is your tank?
if you want to keep clams I would go with 3x 250W 10-14K and 4 x 110 VHO super blues.
well that is what I going to do on my 240 but with 4 x250 W MH and 4x 110W act.
happy lighting

OK new question (actually same question different set up)
What would be the best set up for a 100. What are the typical dimensions of a 100? I found a 100 gallon w/ stand and canopy for $250 is that a good price? I don't have a picture yet he is suppose to send me a picture and dimensions tonight. So just trying to get an idea.
He is also offering 2- 60" ARO VHO ballast endcaps with 1 year old bulbs(4 total) - $75.00 ea (no wattage listed)

Ok I am sort of confused. What exactly is ice caps? Is it a whole light set up or do I have to hook this up to something and add bulbs and then attach to a canopy or something? sorry for dumb questions
