How many Watts per gallon for reef tank?

depends on the size of the tank and what you want to keep. I'm confused about your fixtures as well. are you saying you have two fixtures and each holds four 96w bulbs or each fixture has a total of 96watts of lighting?

I have a 37 gallon cube tank with 2 96 watt fixtures each. I have 20 pounds live rock and 2 damsels. Had this tank going a while ago but.......long story. I want coral and whatever else I can have without overloading the bioload.

4 to 6 watts per gallon is the general rule but it can depends on how deep your tank is and what kind of lighting you are using.
