how much food should i feed? i put a sprinkle in and they eat it..... but then they swim around looking for more. do i give them more until they stop searching?
IMO it is better to slightly underfeed than overfeed. I have just started feeding once every few days instead of once a day. The more food you put into your tank the more pollution it will create. I think it's safe to say that you want your fish to eat and still be looking for more. In the wild food is not given to them, so skipping a few days isn't going to kill them. In the long run it might even be better for your fish and your tank as a whole to feed twice a week instead of every day.
Experts, what do you think?
What kind of fish? What are you feeding?
Different fish have different dietary needs including variety, amount, and frequency. IME, overfeeding is a root cause of several tank problems. Once a day for most fish is fine. Less is okay too.
I feed a couple times a day, I probably feed too much but I really enjoy watching them eat. But they eat all I feed in less than a minute so I don't know if this is too much or not.
