How much is too much flow?

I have a 72gal and want to keep mostly soft coral. I have a maxijet 1200 with a conversion kit that makes it 1600 gph. I also have a maxijet 600 thats 160 gph and thats not including my return pump which im guessing another 400 gph. It looks like too much flow. Is it?

i think you should be good with that....as long as everything isnt getting beat up and is a gentle sway...you are cool

Its too much when the corals get pissed or the fish cant swim in it.

If you see that some particles in your tank needs to be moving faster, you might not have enough flow. If you have dead spots in your tank, you might want to consider getting another powerhead. Hydor Koralia's are pretty good, some people say that they are cheap pieces of ... crud.

i think your good.. if you start blowing things around too much.. just redirect the flow pattern some.. i hav e a ssb w/ 5 mj mods and my sand dont move all over the place to give you an idea..

That is nothing. I have 2 tunze 6025's, a hang on filter, and a maxijet 400 on a hob refugium on my 29gal. And most of my stuff are LPS or zoanthids. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 6055's

those tunes.. you can do the mod and they cah do like 2200 gph or something like that.. ( you cut slits into the shroud to let ot pull in more air.. lots of people cut the nozzle shorter too, the flow is too strong and cutting the nozzle shorter will spread the flow out more.. )

as long as it is indirect flow i don't think you can have too much.

Already did the mod. The 6055's are controllable.

Thanks, at first I thought it was too much because it's probably 4x the flow I originally had. I'll keep it in there for the time being.
