How much lighting do Green star Polyps need?

I have a piece of live rock with 2 feather dusters on it and I have a feeling that my Copperband Butterfly is nipping at them. I was going to put the rock in my sump/refugium but then I remembered that there are also some Green Star Polyps on the rock, the only ones I have. I dont want to put them in there if there is not enough lighting. Theres only about 30 watts of lighting in there, although it mught still be 3 watts per gallon considering that theres only 10 gallons in the refugium. Any thoughts or ideas?

ok i don't think it will make it in ur sump. Why wouldn't you trade it in for a credit or something useful in your display tank, instead of keeping it in ur sump where it can't be enjoyed?

Because it is a sump/refugium with plenty of room for the rock. It is not hidden, it is in plain view right under my display tank. It's a 20 gallon tank that I converted to a sump/refugium. All I need to know is how much lighting Green star Polyps need. There is approximately 3 watts per gallon in my sump, as was stated in my orignal posting.

it may survive with that kind of light? but, i don't know for sure. Hopefully someone else can give you some better input on this one

Watts per gallon is not as important as what kind of light it is to put in simply. If it is power compacts or better you should be fine with the right spectrum. Standard flourescents probably won't work no matter what the wattage per gallon is.

30 watts over a 10gallon should easily sustain GSP unless you have macro blocking the light. tank is only like 12" high. soft corals grow in my 10g sump when I put them there and I only have 18watts and cheato.
