Umm. Well I recommend #s of LR equal to the gallonage. 10 lbs would be good, but I would recommend 15, since it wouldnt be like a rock quarry but wouldnt look empty.

1.5 - 2 lbs. Per Gallon is recommended the most.
I have 10 lbs. in my 10 Gallon, and personally don't like it, I wish I had more.
I would recommend atleast 15 (+) But 10 lbs. is fine also. I know how expensive rock is..
(Hah, everytime I tell someone what I paid for it, they look at me like a freak and walk away )
EDIT:://
Wait, Woah, Wait! You already have two clownfish in this tank? Artificial rock/coral?

How much live rock you get is also determined by its density. The denser the rock, the more needed. For example it will take 1 pound of Pacific rock (which is lighter) or 1.5 to 2 pounds of Atlantic rock (which is more dense) per gallon of tank capacity.

That is not that bad. Almost all the LFS around me sells it for 6-8 bucks a pound. That is why I try to just get mine off the internet.. I did pay that much for a couple pounds though because I was in a rush to get it. This time, for my 10g, thank goodness, I only paid like 3.50 a pound... shipping included. woot!

Umm... how long has your tank been cycling?? is it fullt cycled?? what are your test readings? Unfortunately, I have a feeling you might lose your clowns down the road, even if you add the LR. Live Rock, even if it is "cured" when you put it in your tank will go through a "die off" period( hopefully very small if fully cured) and your tank will begin a whole new cycle. You will need to stay on top of water changes, maybe 30% every 3 days or so until the cycle has finished. This(depending on the rock) could take a week if you are extremely lucky, or up to a month to fully cycle everything to where it needs to be. The dead coral that is in there, while visually pleasing right now, should probably be removed when you add the rock, and added when the cycling is finished( one less thing for algae to grow on). Yes LR is vital to the health of a SW system, it is a shame that your LFS didn't guide you properly, though 9 times out of 10 they rarely do...lol. Good luck with everything, and read as much as you can on sw systems, it is a great hobby, and very rewarding!!
oh, if your LFS has an established reef tank, ask to buy some of the rock out of that tank, it is most likely the best in the store, and who knows what kind of fun little hitch hikers you may get!!

Ok just answering your top question of what design I think would look good in that hex tank. Maybe some type of horseshow shaped cave on the bottom, but slowly working its way up to a peak. But I wouldnt make it a pointy peak, maybe something of a flat top that you could put maybe a light-intensive coral on top closer to the light.
I personally would ditch the dead acropora colony piece. Theres not much you can do with it as far as scaping.
I have 30# in my 24 and wish I had a ton more, just to give you another idea of how much.

i like your tank but be wary of that crushed coral substrate.......if you dotn keep that stuff clean the nitrate get a kick start and kill everything thing in the tank................
