How much of a DSB do you need??

Using a 26 gallon refugium in my sump with a DSB, do I still need a DSB in the main 200 gallon tank?? Just looking to save a few dollars to put towards live rock since southdown is not available to me.

have u looked to see if quick create spl? is available. it is also a play sand and from what ive hear and tried its working

i would reccommend it... i would try for at least a 4 inch DSB in the main tank and then like a 6 inch DSB in the sump! this is going to give you maximum surface area for denitrifying bacteria to colonize and thus will make your system much more efficient!

Yes, we have quickrete. Unfortunately everything here is red..the sand, the dirt, the rocks...........
