how much salt?

I purchased a used tank and havnt had one before. My question is I completly emptied it out and want to refill it now. How much salt do I add to the water? its an 80g.

you really need a SG measuring tool of some kind... i suggest a refratometer or a floating hydrometer

depends on the brand of salt you choose to use. each package will have its own guidlines set up hit a certain SG but a refractometer is what is really need to measure as you go to make sure you have enough or hit your target range.

one half cup per g of water will get you close.

For instance, I use Instant Ocean, it calls for 1.5 lbs of salt per 5 gallons of water...

Its kent sea salt. I do have a floating hydrometer. What do I want my SG to be at?
