how much sand

i want to up my sandbed 2-3 more inches, i have a 40 gall tall... how much sand should i pick up ? (i cant remeber what i bought before lbs wise..)

also i notice some people having waves in their sand, this for aesthetics or does it serve a purpose ?

to figure how much sand you need use the following:
Length X Width X inches of sand you want X .0579 = lbs of sand needed
