how much time til improvement

hi guys!!
I bought a recently bought a scopa tang,that is in qt,as i tought he turn out having ich.I started hypo 7 days (1.009)ago and i realy dont see any improvement,in fact he has more dots than before, i had ich last year because i did not qt a new fish so i did hypo and everything turn out ok,but this time i'm realy worried should i put chemical or just wait! Could a tang take longer??

What are you using to measure your salinity? If the device isn't accurate, the reading could be off and the treatment ineffective. You should actually be seeing improvement by now (7-10 days), but there are strains of crypt that are resistant to hyposalinity. If you're truly at 1.009 (by means of a good refractometer) then give it a few more days and see what happens.

Did you calibrate the refractometer? And, what are the salinity and specific gravity readings? Ich has never fallen off the fish, right? He still has it since the beginning?

No i dont think ick fell off,i brought the refractometre to the store and they check it ,and it was accurate!!Now i see sg at 13 ppt

Have you been watching each spot closely? Ich will fall off, but at 7 days you would be getting the eruption of parasites as they desperately try to host. This happens before they drop back off.

Just a litle update, scopa doing a lot better,2 days since i've seen spot!! So now i am counting 3 weeks at 1.009 and 1 week to bring the salt up? Is that o.k ? because, tang are worst than other fish to cure?
