I am in the process of setting up my first reef tank, I have had fo tanks for over 25 yrs. I have a 29 with 30 pounds of lr, I am trying to figure out how much water movement most corals need? Right now I have 2 rio's 800 in the tank and I was thinking that is to much. Also where do you place them to get the most out of them? I know in my fo I put them high and low. Thanks for the info in advance.

The general rule of thumb is turn over the tank volume 10x an hour. Personally mine turns over aprox.24 times an hour, your milage may vary!!

Yah, Im running about 16X an hour. I recommend 3 powerheads and 1 good powerfilter.
I run the powerheads 1 in each corner and 1 in the middle facing the front glass. The powerfilter runs from side to side. This give you some needed turbulence too.
