i dont understand the question, are you looking for total watts of an outlet in a home?

Home outlets are rated on amperage use. Also, many outlets might run off one circuit that's powered by a 10-15 amp breaker.
Since outlets in the US have 120 volts, 120x15=1800 watts.
It's recommended not to exceed about 80%, so that's about 1440 watts per breaker.

WHAT!?!?!? how am i gunna have a reef tank then??? i mean the light alone is 250w and then the powerheads are about 200w and the pump is like 150 watts and then the protein skimmer is like 100 w that's already like 700w!!! plus the PC and the big screen TV!!!!! :scared: :scared: :scared:

There's no way the powerheads and pumps are that many watts. Most powerheads only use about 20 watts each.

I also wouldn't recommend running a computer and TV off the same circuit as a tank, but you might still be ok (I'm no electrician).

The heater may be a 100 watts. and the lights may be 250 watts, but you need to check the amps, how many amp are they. The normal outlet can handle "x" amount of amp running from it. Look at your equipment see the amps add them up. If it more that the outlet can handle, then try to runn some of the equipment on other outlets or other circuits. If you run more amps off a line than it can handle you will continuously trip your circuit, or worse yet risk a fire starting.

and remember that breakers/circuits often handle a whole series of switches and/or outlets. Just plugging some stuff into the next outlet on the wall probably won't help since it's undoubtedly on the same circuit. I'd suspect that all the outlets in one given room (Unless it's a large room that spans from the front to the back of the house) are on one breaker/circuit.
I had an electrician run a whole new dedicated line from the breakerbox to a quad outlet for my tank.
