How much weight can it hold..

My 55 gal tank is sitting on a stand that I bought a Petsmart.
How much wight can a store bought stand hold? It is made of oak and Sauder with oak laminate. It has a solid base for the tank to rest on, not just support on the ends like some stands I have seen.
I want to add more LR, but wasn't sure how much load these stands can handle. I'm sure they can hold a lot.
Right now I am estimating that the stand is supporting about 750lbs in weight, and I would like to add 50lbs of LR.
Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Rob

Full of water and with its own weight your tank is about 565lbs. I've got one set up on a simalir stand with 100lbs of rock in it. Just dont crawl in and swim with your fish and you should be fine.

It won't have any problems holding whatever you can put in the tank as long as the tank is plumb. I am guessing it's made of 3/4" pressboard. No worries, load it up! If it makes you feel any better but some 2 by's and brace it a bit.

My 45 was sitting on a particle board stand which came with it...with the 5.5 gallong in the bottom for the live brine shrimp for the seahorses...the humidity caused it to start warping or whatever particle board does...so I built a new one. Was planning on it anyways...just never liked the idea of any engineered wood products in that close proximaty to water like that.

If you didn't use wood, what did you put in place of it?
