New Reef (started set up about a month ago)
Planned Expenses
75 gal mega-flow with stand
2 150w MH bulbs (already had the pend. just needed bulbs)
t5 strip with two bulbs
115 lbs live rock
10 lbs live sand
50 lbs aragonite bottom
Bacteria Booster (btw, Ocean Direct live sand WORKS for bacteria. Started converting NH3 to NO2 within a day of adding. Added around day 6 with only uncured live rock and no substrate in tank to cycle. NH3 was off scale high, of course with no NO2 showing. Next day I had around .5 ppm NO2 and even had trace NO3. Tank was completely cycled within two weeks of adding. Live rock isnt even fully cured today... still some minor die off visible)
fuge stuff (already had a ecosystems fuge/sump)
New external pump
plumbing pieces and vynil tubing
level control system
make up water pump (already had m/u tank)
about a years supply of RO/DI cartridges
300 gal worth of salt
1kg jugs of stront, magnesium, buffer, alkalinity, calcium, trace additives
Iodine, Iron, 2 part Calc/Alk jugs (1 gal)
Carbon, misc media bags
Test kits for everything I want to monitor (Stront, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, NO3, NO2, NH3, Calcium, Alkalinity)
Pinpoint pH monitor
AquaC remora pro skimmer
2 SEIO 1100 pumps with controller
Fish Food
Refractometer
Python Tubing for cleaning and water changes
Magnet Scrubby
Unplanned Expenses
Two air pumps and silicone tubing with check valves and diffusers to run air from outside the house and bubble my tank (low pH due to high CO2 in the house)(wife also bought an indoor tree paranoid of high CO2 killing our family or something even though we have lived here over a year)
Glass canopy to trap that air above tank to minimize the tank equilibriating with the CO2 in said house
1/10 Hp chiller and plumbing due to temps of my tank being near 87 degrees before I even started the light cycle
about 80 bucks worth of wasted plumbing supplies due to required changes in plumbing out the tank and sump, etc
about 15 bucks wasted in shipping return for a leaky pump
Fish
Six Line wrasse
2 False Perc Clowns
a handfull of hermits
couple snails
2 cleaner shrimp
Fuge macros
TOTAL = 4500.00
Keep in mind. I had the money set aside so I haven't put myself into debt. Without that worry I bought all the stuff not stated otherwise brand new. Will post some pictures when I get some corals in there, but I just finished the air bubblers and canopy cover to try to get my pH up where it should be. May be a week or so before I am comfortable enough that I am not going to kill anything due to poor water quality. The livestock listed I just added yesterday (other than the clowns which were bought to preserve the cycle once NH3 and NO2 went away). Besides, its brandy brand new and going through the cyanobacteria growth phase... kinda ugly.
