how often do anemones move

being a newbie here is my question. I got a tank 3 weeks ago today that was already set up and had been in operation for years. My wife called me today, i'm out of town for a week, to tell me that the brown bulb(bubble) anemone was not on the same piece of live rock that it has been since we arranged the tank and attached itself just behind and lower to the bottom to where it was.. I did put the anemone in the general area of the tank that it was before I brought it home.I have been feeding it a small piece of shrimp every2 days, if the female tomato clown doesn't steal it. The male clown will bringit food but it often get stolen. Since I am not sure what an anemone looks like when it dies, what are the tell tale signs? Also, is it normal for them to move?
This one moved closer to the bottom of the tank. It had been about a 1/3 of the way up. My tank is a typical 55gallon rectangle FOWLR. So advice would be appreciated!
Thank you,
Mike not Ike, lol. (can't change my sign in name)

If you look a the tank pic the original location was to the right hand side, about a 1/5 of the way from the right and about a 1/3 from the bottom. Just above the white cauliflower looking rock in fromt.

Anemones do not typically move unless they are unhappy. One of the top reasons that an anemone may move is poor water quality. Can you post your water parameters? PH, ammonia, nitrite, & nitrate are the main ones I would focus on for the time being. Another reason they move is insufficient lighting. What lighting do you have? Is that just the stock lighting that comes standard with a tank? If it is, then there is insufficient light for the anemone. Another reason they move is poor water flow. What type of power heads do you have? What filtration?

YES...WELCOME
I have a question.....you say you have had the tank for 3 weeks....BUT the tank is a few years old.....How did you move it and re-set it up? DId you use the same sand? Same rocks? Were the rocks out of water for any length of time?
It looks a little clean to me. Did it come with the livestock already in it?
I will also agree with Gemmy about the lights.....the anemone will never survive with that lighting

Water temp 78.4 constant, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, 0 nitrite, ph 8.3, salinity 1.022, hardness 13. When i moved then tank all rock stayed in the original water. never out except to transfer from water to tank. All rocks and sand have been in the tank when i bought it. the tank itself is clean cause it is new. I was not comfortable with a cracked molding so that is all that was replaced. A fluval 305 is filtering and 3 power headhead set up to circulate the water. the anemone was purchased 2 years ago and has been living under the same current lighting, not sure what that is till i get home. Livestock that came with it is; 10 ich engineer gobie, the hippo tang that is my avatar, 1 camel shrimp, 3 hermit crabs, 2 tomato clowns, the anemone, and a pajama cardinal. I added a feather duster, and a fire gobie.
