How often do you change your socks?

First I do not have a sock for my overflow, and I am looking at getting 1. I would just like a little information on them
1 how often do you change your socks
2 can they be reused?
3 can they be washed?
4 what should I look for 100 micron sock etc.

Yes, filter socks can be reused, and should be rinsed VERY frequently (IMO at least every couple of days). Consider their purpose - they are a mechanical filter to trap waste/food etc. Once there it rots until you clean it. Even if it doesn't seem that there is much back up of water, I would still rinse them. They can be washed, but don't use soap. I used to use a mild bleach solution but mostly I used a garden hose with a strong sprayer attached.

Hey Thanks for the info. How often have you had to replace your socks? 1, 2, 3 times a year?

Well, can't answer on that one, because it was at work and we had literally dozens that were used at any given time. They are pretty tough things though - they will last awhile. IMO get at least 2 so that one is always clean and ready to be used when you switch out the dirty one.
