How often do you feed you fish?

I was doing some research and saw people feed their fish every other day or some even every three days. I feed use to feed my fish twice sometimes three times per day. Could this pollute my tank from over feeding?

Hello...YES, overfeeding will indeed pollute your tank. If you have live rock, there is more for your fish to eat then what you are feeding them. Fish graze all day, they eat the little sea bugs that live in the rock, and nip at algae that grows. The fish actually prefer the sea bugs and natural algae to what you feed them. However, every other day, and once every three days is not enough, and will stunt the growth. Once a day is sufficient, and only what will be consumed within a few minutes.

Also Depends on how many fish, and what kind as well. Anthias have to be fed like 3-4 times a day (in my understanding)

Thanks for the info. Definitely not Anthias as I'm not a big fan of them. I like things like dwarf angels, yellow eye tang and fox faces.

I feed 2-3 times a day and have no issues with water quality but I guess it depends on your tank size and good your filtration is.

If you are feeding seaweeds, try for a variety of colors. You can save money by buying full sheets of seaweed called Nori- like in health food stores and high end grocery stores.

I feed a variety of flake foods, but I'm thinking about switching to frozen and rinsing it.

Snake, why do you rinse your frozen? Is this something I should start doing?

I rinse because there is a lot of liquid nutrients in the frozen foods. The corals get enough zooplankton to eat without dosing the tank with extra that could cause algae issues.
