How to ASM G2 setup?

Could any one that using ASM G2 or other ASM models help me to set up my new ASM G2 in my sump:
• How height of water level in the sump? ( I have 10”)
• How height of the adjustable tubing with the black foam sponge?
• How long it take to get the skimmer to break in and get the nasty stuff out?
Today is my 2nd day but I still did not see anything yet just a lot of micro bubbles and loud noise from the skimmer not the pump.

Most skimmers tend to do well in 6 to about 10 inches. With the one you are using, just adjust the shaft up or down until you reach the desired level of foam you want. It will also determine if you want a wet or dry skim. I have one in my120g and love it.

ASMs usually like 9" of water.....set the discharge tube height so that the bubble level in tube within the collection cup is about 1/2-1" up the column.
ASMs I have have taken 3-4 days to really start to have skimmate build up that you can see.

thanks guys! today i start to see some drark brown water inside the correction cup. I did set up about 9-10" deep of water and adjusted the adjustable tube about 1/3 of the cup's height. seem to be working fine! I have notice the water dried out faster that before I have to add the top off water twice about 1/2g each time. Is is normal?

Yes you will find more evaporation/need for larger quantities of top off water.
with the forcing of air into the water column and the cascading of water out the discharge side you have more air contact/more evaporation.
Also the body of the ASM has some water in it above normal sump level so you will see an immediate drop in your sump level to compensate.

I think your problem is the elbow is not pushed all the way into the chamber,,, that or the air line isnt connected to the top of the pump tightly?
