MUCH CHEAPER
my glass cost me $315 for 3/8"
acrylic would have cost me $750+ for "close-to" half inch (you always have to use thicker acrylic cause it isnt as strong as glass)

yeah thats what i was thinking because online it woulda been like 500 just for the acrylic for a 90 + s&h which is another like $100. What i might do thought is make the back and bottom acrylic so that i can drill it.

oh yeah mitzel and tim theres a guy here in castle rock that has a 160 gallon that has a crack in one of the pices on the bottom i was thinking you might be able to remove the piece and put in a new one. Dunno how uch he wants for it he just said make an offer. And by the its glass.

madman your better off getting regular glass and having them drill holes in the bottom for you(or do it yourself). i dont think anyone knows anyway that glass and acrylic will bond tightly enough for it to hold water. Silicone WILL NOT work,, weld-on WILL NOT work,,i wish ic an help yaya on this one!!

30 thats it! Man it would be worth that just for the glass! I did a search for denver glass and got lots of hits. Right now I'm cleaning my office so I be doing that for a while and then I get to it. Yes I want the site I shoot you an email. Have any idea why it cracked or if its tempered?. Man for 30 I'll play with it!
I'll be back with some Q+A's

yea thats why i built this one.. i saw a 180 at my LFS that came with a stand and all for $2200...it was the ugliest flimsiest looking stand i ever saw..it was some kind of metal, with cheap doors on it, and i asked if he could give me the tank with a wood stand and he said of course,,it would only be $3200 witht he oak stand..
thats when i knew i was onto my next "tank" project. i would bet i can sell this tank for some good money

OK guys, just bought that tank! I'm getting it tomorrow. Now it's time for some fun! Also have another buddy who's holding some more 1/2" panels for me from a 180. No guts No glory and besides I think I need new carpet in my family room anyway. LOL
You have to remember its not the materials that cost! Its the insurance, overhead and etc........

Yes when I said octo I ment the live kind . not the glass kind . I'll post a picture of the spot I'm thinking tim.
If this works out we could do custom tanks for people here in colorado as a part time deal and call it two dads and a wild man. :hilarious

Yeah OK! Until one of "OUR" tanks floods a two story apartment complex and "we" get sued!

But then again I knew my wife would come in handy sometime...........

The more you make the more you spend
There is no end nor boundry for this hobby. Pretty soon mitzel gonna be charging $20.00 for a tour!
:hilarious
