That website made a really complex skimmer...I'm going to try designing a much simpler model. I'll post plans when I'm done.

Wow...I had no idea that clear tubing was so expensive! It seems all websites selling it require no less than 5ft worth to buy, and when it's about $15/ft of 4" diameter, the total order will be close to $100 with shipping and all various peices.
Almost seems cheaper to out right buy one.

There should be enough to make a few though maybe you can get some one who needs a skimmer to share the cost with you.

Aquatic Eco-Systems sells and prices by the foot for acrylic tubing. 4 1/2" (which fits 4" PVC fittings) is $12.45 a foot. This is a bit more expensive than other places I've found on the web but, as I said, they do sell it by the foot so if you only need a little bit it's much cheaper. I've dealt with them many times in the past and they are very good to work with. I'm not going to post a link but if you do a search on the web I'm sure you'll have no problem finding them.

BTW...how much flow for a pump is needed? 100gph enough for a skimmer?
