How to Change CC to LS

On the advice of my LFS, I started my 46G tank with cc. Reading through all the threads I see that LS is better. How to I change to LS safely. Do I take all the fish out to make the change or leave them in. The tank gets pretty cloudy when I stir up the cc. Please advise.

1st do you have another tank that is established? if not you should just take a couple of netfulls a week but vaccuum the spot real good really good 1st then scoop out 2-3 nets a week long process but worth it and do not add ls till all the cc is gone other wise you will have a bigger mess good luck :happyfish

What about the suggestion of collecting all the CC and placing it in a stocking, filling the tank with LS and putting the CC in the stocking back in the tank. The bacteria would still be present in the tank but easily removed when the sand/LS becomes estabilished.

to tell you the truth when i did mine i pulled it all out at once was cloudy for a day and a half but nothing died but i went to bare bttom for 2 months then added sand
