How to do you clean Bio-wheels?

I noticed the other morning they were no longer turning. They were slow before.
I haven't had time to mess with it and I've been sick.
Thanks. I don't want to mess anything up.

I wouldn't clean the bio-wheel with anything other than a brush around the portion that needs cleaned. If you clean it then you will kill all the beneficial organisms housed in the fibers of the bio-wheel. HTH

I am curious where you got that Idea?
When you do your water change just clean the biowheels with some of the water removed from the aquarium. It is a much safer bett then using fresh water and probably killing off most if not all of your biological filtration.

Fresh water will kill bacteria grown in a marine environment...just as it will kill most any living marine organism...
It isnt a matter of "killing", but absorbtion rate differences..osmotic pressure...
