Some people just drop the cube into the water and let it melt there. I dont recomend that. Others place the cube into a glass of tank water and let it melt in there and then pour it into the tank. That is what I used to do. Now I place the cubes into a brine shrimp net and run warm water over them until they melt. Then I place the food into the tank by running the net backwards, washing the food out of the net. The reason I do this is because the frozen foods are packed with preservatives which are not good for your tank, thus the rinsing washes away any and all preservatives.
The amount you feed your fish determines how much they will eat. Usually you give them only what they will consume in a couple of minutes. You might have to feed just half of a cube. I only feed my fish once a day. My anemone gets fed liquid food(Microvert and Phytoplankton) and frozen silver sides once a week. I thaw the silver sides and then place it directly into the center of the anemone.
