How to feed frozen food?

What is the best way to feed frozen food without it dissolving so small the fish can't eat it? I am trying to cut back on phosphates so this is sort of important.

thaw in a cup of ro/di water then strain in a net with ro/di water, then feed.

I just take out a cube then set it on a sauser untill it thaws then I just crubble it up and throw it in.
