How to feed Royal Gramma?

I just bought a royal gramma basslet from the lfs yesterday, and i tried to feed him today and it just didnt work. Hes in his little cave all the time and once and a while he'll come out but go right back into his cave if he sees anyone. Ive tried sinking pellets, flake, brine, and frozen. I need help finding a way to feed him.

My RG just eats like any other fish.
If you just got him, he is hiding to get used to the new place. They are very shy fish who hide alot, especially at first. When he is hungry, he will dart out and grab food, and then go back to where he is comfortable.
I would stay away from the tank a bit, leave the lights out and then don't put your hands in your tank, or bother or stress him out.

I got mine used to eating with other fish by tapping lightly on the tank when I feed the other fish, RG's are smart and he'll figure it out in two to three days other wise he will stay in his cave until comfortable. You will be suprised at how used to you he gets.

still acclimating. he may dart out of the cave to grab food at the most but believe me they are pigs once they are out in the open and part of the community. they will eat anything and everything aggressively. at this point watch him during feeding as this will probably do the most for enticing it to explore outside the cave a little.

word of caution...all that uneaten food may cause problems. Allot of new fish are so stressed they won't eat for days. Just feed the fish, when it's hungry it will eat.
The more you mess around the tank the more it will hide.

Mine was really shy at first too. After about a week or so, he just stopped hiding... He wasn't eating at first either. I have a ocellaris clown and a flame hawk. They all get along fine. The gamma caught on pretty quick after a couple of feedings (mysis shrimp), just by watching the other fish. He seems to like flake food as well, but didn't at first until he saw the other fish eat it.
Is the gamma the only fish in your tank? Since you fed the tank already, wait a couple days, then feed again. He should eat then, he will definitely be hungry enough...
