How to feed starfish

Can anyone tell me how to feed sand sifting starfish? Seems like I read somewhere that you put some type of food under it but can't find it again. Also need to know what you feed zoas, or do you feed them anything at all?
Thanks for any answers.

I dont feed zoa's...dont know many that do... Everytime I have ever had a starfish (bottom dwelling ones) as soon as food hits the sand they are all over it..

are Zoos different than Zoas? (I am very new here. Tank only set up a week)
My sand sifting star goes too slow to jump on food. Just was wondering if you feed it extra than the regular food you put in.

Been cycled a week? Or running a total of a week?
If its the latter of the 2 I would take back all the livestock because the cycle will more than likely kill them..
Zoa's are the same thing..Some just type it different

Tank has been set up about a week. Already cycled cause lfs who I bought tank from came and set it up for me with his water that was in it (used tank) and some of his LR that had been cycled also. Then I put in a pair of clowns and a cleaning crew. So I am very new at marine tanks, fish, etc. Use to breed fwf years ago.

did you test the water at all? just because the LFS said the rock was already cycled, there still could have been some die-off b/w tanks. also, the sand you are using (if you are using sand) could create a cycle. the threads at the top of the first forum will help a ton. they helped me and i'm sure at least 4 or 5 other people

yes, tested water. All parameters are great. Going to lfs tomorrow and will bring sample just to double check my readings. Like I said, when I bought the tank, he brought the lr in the bucket of water that was in the tank, and the coral frags were brought in the bucket also. So it just was a matter of taking down the tank then reassembling it at my house. It was already cycled.
I have been reading all the info I can get on forums, etc every night and have learned some, but still just a beginner. Need to know lots more just to go fwd buying more for the tank.
Also the sand is the same one that was in the tank.
I appreciate the help you'll are giving me.
thanks,

Didn'[t get the BTA but lfs said that I could have an anenome and there was a real nice long tenacle anenome that his pair of clowns were in so I got it two days ago. So far doing good. Clowns not in it yet though...Any comments about them?

idk bout the clowns but with my sandsifting starfish i put a little but of algea on a sheet and let it drop to the bottom of the tank i have a pred. tank with puffer and lion so no one eats the algea, the next morning the strip of algea is almost always gone so im assuming my sandsifting starfish is the one eating it.

If your clowns were tank raised chances are they dont know what the BTA is. Had the same problem with my Ocellaris went and bought one wild Perk and he was sorta the leader and is slowly showing them the ways of hosting. Now i just need to get them there own.

I have witnessed my sand sifting starfish eating my hermit crabs. Later I find the shell spit out, soft, jelly like. What can I feed the stars to satisfy their hunger so they will leave my hermit crabs alone ? I talked to 2 aquarium shops in town, they said starfish do not eat hermits, one staff guy said my tank was too clean, and not enough debrie for the stars to feed on..... Any ideas ? THANKS, ginger17

Hi again, I took my sand sifting starfish back to the LFS, as they were feasting on my hermit crabs llike crazy. Found out they are not the typical sss, but a different variety. They are beige with broad brown bands going horizontal on the arms. Covered with bristles all over, not just underneath. Not the plain grey sand sifting starfish. Thanks, ginger17
