How to frag leather?

Take a small piece of rock from the tank that you want to attach the frag to. As long as the main coral is good and healthy, you can cut off as much of the leather as you like. Take the cut piece and secure it to the smaller piece of rock rock using a rubberband. (newly cut surface should be in contact with the rock you are attaching to)Frag can also be glued to the rock using super glue gel. I find the rubberband is a bit easier. You can take the frag out of the water to make this easier. Once you have the frag nicely secured to the rock, you can just place the new piece back in the tank. Moderate circulation and moderate lighting. Frag should attach to the rock in less than a month. After that you can just cut off the rubberband.

ok, pa reef pig told it pretty much how it is, but, you can still do more! get yourself some really sharp surgical sciccors and go right to the top of the staulk of the coral. now, chop the head off of it. then, take the round head, and cut it into 4 to 6 pieces just like a pizza! after that take reef pigs suggestions on attaching it to small pieces of rock.. i suggest that you put some netting around it if you use the superglue method. hope this helps you out some. if you need more help, let me know. i've been doing this for years now.

Kathy... I just fragged my finger leather. See if you can get your hands on some of those scissors paramedics have. They have black handles with a curved blade, one is serrated. They cut throught change and stuff. Super sharp.
Keep your leather underwater, and cut one of the branches at the base. It can have several of the fingers on it, or just one. But make sure you clip it at the base so new spores grow over quickly.
Take the frag and put the new, cut base in the sand to heal for a few days. Leave the fingers out. You will see spores open up after it heals and de stresses.
After things heal up, put the frag on a piece of rock and it will attatch itself fairly quickly. From there, it grows, and you have another leather. Good luck.
