I have heard of all kinda of things to do to get clean sand but since my budget is only so much, I want to know what is the best to buy. I heard sea cucumbers are good, even certain kind of snails.

try a coby. they go around eating the sand and spitting it out. keeps the diatoms (brown sand) away.

a coby is a bottom feeder. it just swims around the bottom of your tank eatting the sand and spiiting it out. really to me it just cleans the sand all day.cool little fish to bad my puffer had mine for lunch last week now i need another.

A Goby would be correct, not a Coby. I agree with the fighting conch. I have two in my 54 g. and they keep it very clean!!!

I got the aquacultered fighting conch. They recommend 1/30 gallons. They are doing wonders in my tank. Actually they are the only thing in my tank that takes care of diatoms and I haven't had any since then.
