All is well the star is doing very nicely in his temp. home...tomorrow he'll be going back into the 55!

Heres the story....*better make some popcorn because this one it's a doozy*
Well the other day my new 75 gallon wet/dry filter came, and I was soooo excited that it came (i love getting stuff for my tank!) as well as my return water pump....so we had mixed 30 gallons of SW the night before so it would be all ready to go into the sump with some left over...well the first problem was the over flow box didn't really have enough room on the back of my tank..it fit...just pretty snug that was problem #1 well in the process of setting it all up we turned on the pump and everything seemed great water was circulating great! I loved it!! so I turned it off because I was just going to move the whole tank out a few inches so the overflow would have just enough room....well I didn't take the water pump out after unplugging it...unaware that it was still sucking water from my main tank.....when we unplugged it my sump was a little over halfway full....when I looked back at it...it my sump was overflowing with water into the floor!!
My display tank was slowly emptying...
Needless to say I jerked the pump out my sump and the madness stopped. Instead of moving my tank out a few inches I had to completely take out 60 LBS of LR 80 LBS of LS, 35-40 gallons of water, tank, and stand....I had to quickly take out my inverts and place them in a 10 gallon tank with a few cup fulls of sand, 2 pieces nd a 60 gallon filter all from my main tank...(thats there home for now, and hopefully they can make a move to their new home later today!)
We spent the remainder of the weekend moving furniture around, mixing SW water, and setting my tank up again...pardon my french but it was H***!!
All in all it was a pretty crappy weekend..but my carpet dried tank is all set-up again...and all is well!!

I am soooo done with it!!! Its a fantastic wet/dry filter....but I just can't do that again...

you won't have to if you drill a hole in your return line just about level with the water level.

I am not an expert by any means but I would add a cutoff valve in the line. The next time you need to make any changes just turn the valve to off. I think

Right the hole will allow the line to suck in air breaking the syphon that starts when your pump shuts down. Also once you do this unplug the pump and let the water stop draining to the sump then mark the levels in your sump so that you know how full it can be without overflowing when the power goes out then plug the pump back in and make sure everything starts working again repeat this a few times and make sure everything work like it supposed to.
