Went on a little road trip on friday with my wife and did some shopping. I talked her into stopping into a couple of fish stores so i could look around. She asked if she could just wait in the car and I asked if she could come in and look around with me. When inside it was like I was in an Indy car race and she was by the front door in two minutes. I have not read thru the entire thread....There is NOTHING you can do to interest your wife in something she doesn't care about.
I'm a woman and I have loved fish since I was a girl...There was a chance she might like them. Having never been exposed to them, and you showed her the fish and took her to the pet store, but once you have tried and failed. It means she just doesn't, and won't later on. The folks whos wives got interested because of their love of the hobby, would have always liked them if they had been exposed to them before.
When I was a girl I was told to try some liver...I might like it...well I didn't and I don't. I tried it, and to me it tastes aweful, and smells like it tastes, and the testure makes me want to vomit...I don't like liver and never will. That does not mean my husband and children can't have it. However it does mean to enjoy it for themselves and leave me out of it.
Your wife must allow you a part of the budget to enjoy YOUR hobby, but she is not obligated to love fish because you do. You are not missing out on anything, actaully you are better off that she has no interest, You don't have to please her taste of what goes in the tank...it is your hobby.
.....................................Well LOL...I read thru the thread. I love that the kids like to go with you to the LFS. That means they will like fish when they are adults as well. As an added bonus your wife can be talked into that expensive fish becuase the children like it too. Snake has the right attitude, enjoy your hobby and support her in what she enjoys too.
