water change or leave it alone and let the coral do the work

dont to anything. you can do a large water change (75%+) which will yeild alkalinity close to the salt mix used. normal size water changes will probably work over time.
whats your alk reading and what do have for stock? SPS may or may not be finicky with high alk but otherwise anything from 7-15+ usually doesn't pose a problem (coral and definately not fish healthwise).

If your DKH isn't over 15 I wouldn't worry about it, the most important thing is to identify the source of the excess alk and stop adding it. My guess would be PH buffer.
