again the sand question, can i use sand from the beach to mold. i know the whole local law thing, and my back yard is the beach so all the sand blowing in my back yard had built up. so can i just use some of this sand for molding. for molding only, not for live sand use.

Don't see why you couldn't use the beach sand but I still would be worried about contamination from it.
The water softener salt is added to make the rock more porous. As it is curing in water the salt dissolves away leaving behind nice little holes. You just need to add a power head and circulate water around in the curing tub.
You can use the waste water from you RO unit. No worries about mineral deposits.........

its a huge blue bag you can find at lowe's where they have the water purification stuff. you wont miss it. it says "DIAMOND CRYSTAL" and below it says solar salt

also after the rock has dried, can i take a hammer to some of them to make rubble rock for a fuge.
