how to secure LR formations?

I am wondering how you would go about securing live rock pieces together when stacking them and making "bridges" and such...

Lol...im still trying to figure that one out. I just did trial & error until they were all pretty stable, then added a few more rocks near the bottom for more support.

Mabee drill holes in the rock and use 100% plastic zip ties (purple) to hold the rock together. Im going to try this sometime in the near future to redo my aquascape when I change it around. One nice thing is that you can easily change stuff around just by a set of heavy clippers.

Drill holes and then get some acrylic dowels, cut and use your aquarium apoxy stick.

Hmmm, is it difficult to drill through live rock? My LFS sells the Fiji LR so that it the type I will be buying if it matters. Would you need any special drill bit?

Im guessing use a masonary bit. I think it would just be a matter of how close you want the hole to the edge of the the rock. If you try to get to close to the edge you might just make alot of homer simpson noises DOU when the rock breaks off.

Well theres rock and then theres rock. The rock that I drilled was dry to begin with, and it was also calcium carbonite based like figi, it had just been out of the water for 30 years or so. Though I have the drill bit that I used in front of me I can't tell you what it is made of, it isn't special like a masonry drill bit, but I think it was made for steel as I got if from a lineman for the power company. I had no problems useing my 14.5 amp cordless drill on it.
I did not use the acrylic dowels that I spoke of but it was an idea at the time. I was simply splitting a very large rock in half and it turned out perfectly the way I wanted it to with just a few pieces of rubble.
