$7 that's really good.....so just a container with holes.....and put it under good water flow....:) sounds good!!!!! do you happen to have a picture of that too.....??? if not that's ok.....it sounds MUCH easier to do than a full fuge. isn't the super glue bad for the tank if it's an inside thing????

Here's a pic of the one from my 54 gal that I just made yesterday (that's why it's so empty). Note the crack on the one side (I was rushing). Go slow with the drill and it won't crack.

It's just a red macro algae. Caulepa (green caulerpa) grows faster and can get out of control. Just keep it trimmed back or feed it to your fish if they eat it.

ok.....so now i envy banshee's fuge....i don't want to spend all sorts of $$$....an inside fuge would work fine for what i want right NOW....what to do, what to do.......i have an extra tank....with the light fixture it came with and fitler blah blah....you know one of those all in one set up tanks.....well....how hard would it be to turn that into a fuge??? would i need the heater and the filter???
and what is that on Banshee's tank....it doesn't look like much (probably why i like it so much) just a pipe thing and a container thing......???? i guess i don't want a fuge that looks messy and has a lot of equipment in it or around it and that one doesn't...:p

oh yeah....and there's no divider in there either....don't you need one of those for a fuge?
and how can i be sure it won't overflow?

The fuge is still a work in progress.....it is a 20 gal. high with a aqualight that sits on top of it (not pictured). The aqualight is 4 bulbs (2 regular, 2 actinic), and they total 96 watts. I got those lights because I plan on putting some mushrooms and zoos in there....you really don't need a lot of light for a fuge. There is a pump in my sump under the display tank (75 gal) that feeds the fuge (pretty slow flow rate) and the water is then gravity fed back into the display tank via the overflow.

clown:
I just set up a fug with a plexiglas box to hold some filtering material. Used a 15g $5.00 plastic container from the dollar store and about $5.00 worth of plexiglass. It is powered by a powerhead and used a HOB overflow. It is for my 55g and just fits in sidways in the stand. Can take some pics if you want.
I think if you study what is on this board, think things out then you can come up with your own solution for a very reasonable price. One big word of caution is to test out the system. See what happens when the power goes out. In my case I forgot there was a syphon back through the powerhead, and adjusted the output to break syphon before flooding the 15g container. Also make sure that when the power comes back the overflow still works. Also the "u" tube over the back seems to "build up" air at the top, so I keep an eye on that to insure the syphon is still effective.
If you want pics i can take them and email them to ya. contact beaslbob@aol.com

Sure can and any other filtering system you want. Thats whats makes it both so confusing and exciting. You can do whatever you want when you make it yourself.

The flow through a fuge is usually kept low to promote pods... so a skimmer may not be as efficient in the fuge as it would be in the tank or a sump.

ok....i get it....so no skimmer if i want pods....now is a heater required???
on those two pictures of the 'high' tanks....how are pods supposed to get to the main tank if they are in on the rock at the bottom of the tank???
Nice reef!!!!:D

I plan on adding a bunch more live rock to the fuge....they will get there. There used to be alot of pods on the filter in my overflow on my main tank. I used to "transport" them back to the tank. There are none there now since I introduced the Mandarin....hence one of the reasons for the fuge. :)
