Research and read. THere is lots of wonderful, extremely helpful information on this board, just use the search option for your specific questions. First thing you need to decide is if you want a fish only tank, and if so, what type of fish? Or is your goal a reef tank? There is a great book, THe concientious marine aquarist, that answers lots of questions. Also this message board gives directions to make your own live rock to save tons of money (but since you are Uma Thurman, that's not an issue, LOL
)
Also, google your interests, but make sure that the website is reputable and gives valid information because this is an expenisve hobby. We also used e-bay to purchase lots of the equipment needed. Brand new light fixture, pumps, etc were less than half price of our local pet store.
