yeah, with the point and shoot cameras the common setting will provide you with a multitude of problems. You really should look into getting a SLR. Alot of the stuff is the same. Nikon makes some great cameras.

my wife has the canon sd500...i have an iphone...i know if i want proper pics taken to use a tripod or a SLR digital camera...anyways photography isnt my hobby ..i said the guy with the sailfin tang from the red seas and the PT are beautiful pics and fish...this is very ironic.. my wife just bought me a canon digital elph sd750..for our anniversary just funny timing...if i didint make sense in my OP sorry i usually write them when i'm tired or its late and i dunno what i'm saying..anyways hopefully this new camera will help my pictures not be a blur and low res...

if you dont understand its limitations or how to use the camera then you will not get any good results at all.

You know, for about 1000 dollars you can get a camera and lenses that would do the same thing those guys do. If you want to go ALL out for another 4 grand or so you could get lights, backrounds, tripods, and the other toys that the "pros" have. To bad you don't live in the DFW area, my dad does that professionally, and charges ALOT less than that.

you can get that stuff alot cheaper then 4grand..2 studio lights with Umbrella and stand for a 160w/s can get for about $300 for the 2 from Impact, background can be had from 45-100bucks, and a support can get an average one for about 100

GOOD GOD 15grand for wedding pics. Did you have an artist going around drawing them all by hand..or was the Film plated in gold. I cant see ANY wedding costing 15grand for just the photos unless you got like 1000guest and there are 3-4 photographers there at once doing it all.

That stuff is big business now days, my brother flew out to california to take pictures for a weekend. Plus they bought him a 1200 dollar lenses, and an expensive flash, food and a hotel, and he is really an amature. All in all it was about 2500 dollars without prints.
