What is the best setting to get those awesome macro shots you guys are getting with my Canon Powershot S3IS camera?
I know you need to turn off all of the pumps and powerheads before shooting.
I have a tripod.
Everytime I zoom in real close it gets blurry, seems to happen no matter what setting I use.
Any suggestions would be great

Somwhere on your camera will be a macro button. Usually it has flower as an indicator. This will allow you to focus in closer than you normally would. Make sure that you are not perpindicular with the glass or the camera may focus on that. Have your camera at the highest resolution and practice pratice practice. Now the real secret for getting freat closeups is to crop the picture. This is where you use whatever software you have to cut out a portion of the picture and then enlarge that portion. This is what I did with a 3 Meg camera so yours should be able to do better.

Scotts... Excellent advice and results from your 3 Meg camera! Ever do available light from your tanks hood? I like to edit with Picassa and sometimes HP software... Any preferences?
Thanks!

Salt+water fish, Thanks!!! In all honesty I can't tell what light I used, if the flash was on or off in that picture. I was trying anything and everything to take a picture of the coral that I circled to see what it was. I think I used HP photosmart premier to edit it. It is a little clunky to use, but what I have on my computer. Now that you have me thinking about it I should find some software that is a little easier to use.

Did you crop the picture to get a closeup? That is what I did in the pictures above.

Not quite sure of how to crop the picture. Is that a function on the camera or a function of a program on the computer itself?

That would be a function of whatever photo software you have. Either whatever came with the camera or came with your computer. If you need some help finding it tell us what software you have available. It might be called something different but 90% of the time it is called "crop".
