Hey Fenir, sorry I didn't see your question about what is in my tank. First off your temp swing of 1 degree should fine. What I've read is you want to avoid 4 and 5 degree swings.
I have had my tank since mid January with stock lighting. IJust upgraded the pump this weekend to a Riio 800 (212 gph). I wish I was patient and ordered a Maxi Jet 900 or 1200. I was having diatoms sprouting up on the LS, so I needed to do something to upgrade flow. I suggest getting the MJ900 if not the 1200. Some say the 1200 works good in the 14G others have concern with it being too much flow. Either way, upgrade the pump for more flow, its about $25.
I have a frogspawn frag that is doing great, but I keep it close to the top. On the bottom I have some metallic green mushrooms, green ric, and yellow polyps that are all doing great. The yellow polyps are multiplying and don't need a lot of light. You actually have to feed them and I give them cyclopleeze.
