Has anybody else tried these to remove aptasia . I went to get a peppermint shrimp or some joes juice . The lfs swore by these . The lady even showed me and artical in a magazine about them . Just wondering if anybody else has tried and had sucess with this method ? I was told the aptasia is their only foos source and they will clean a tank out fast than a peppermint shirmp .

I used them but I had A LOT of aiptasia. If there's just a few I would get the Joe's Juice & Peppermint shrimp instead.

Are they going to take it back when the Aiptasia is gone?

I did a bunch of research on Berghias trying to get rid of my Aptasias. Too many people saying they put a few in their tank and never saw them again.
I used Pepp. Shrimps and wiped them out. Don't have the shrimps anymore, but they got rid of the Ap's just the same.
Problem is, there are shrimps SOLD as pep's that really aren't.

The lady at the lfs said that more than likely I will never see this thing again .
But that my aptasia will go away over the next few weeks . She said the diference betweeen this little thing and a peppermint shrimp is that the shrimp will eat a little then wander off . where when this thing finds aptasia it won't stop until the whole anemonie is gone . Well if it doesn't do the trick and show results by next payday I will get a peppermint shrimp .

OK . . . . I am a little mad . This little guy has been hanging out under the rock in the same place since yesterday . So we decided to see if he was dead . So we moved him up on to the Zoa's where there are a few aptasia . It went tward them got stung once and took off back under the rocks .
I guess I will have to get a peppermint shrimp on payday .

I have never used one of these, but I could tell from the description that the LFS lady gave you that she was FOS. I hope that you get your money back.

Still hasn't gone after the aptasia . Is hanging out under the rocks still .
Its a shame too because this was one of the nicer lfs and they lost a customer now over this . If you swear to me that its going to eat all the aptasia then it better be a eatting machine . Otherwise you just look bad .

berghia are nocturnal.
one will not wipe out aiptasia whatsoever.
what happens is the aiptasia sees it is getting attacked, so it releases baby aiptasia. then the berghia see the little aiptasia and say wow this is easier to eat than that big one, then eat the small ones and the big ones never get eaten.
there is a reason websites sell berghia by the dozens. you need multiples to eat all your aiptasia.

definitely one will not take care of them....especially if you havea ton...i've thrown one in my 75, never to see it again...stupid things cost WAY to much for how many you need to kill the aiptasia...i'm trying to get my stupid fish out so i can put peppermints in there to kill the remainder of mine

If the berghia was full when you purchased it, it will need to process the food before it will eat another aiptasia. It could also have been stressed - they have to be acclimated very slowly. Also, don't try to place the berghia on the aiptasia, because the aiptasia will actually eat the berghia. Berghia will normally attack from the foot area (from within the rock crevices).
If you only have a few aiptasia, using a syringe with boiling hot water is normally sufficient to kill the aiptasia. Berghia work better on heavy infestations - also, they use a colonial approach and can take a could of generations to be in sufficient force to completely wipe out a heavy infestation.
