Myself and squishy had to move this thing from a seacan into a trailer and than into my garage yesterday. The measurements are 84"L x 40"H x 35"D, all 3/4 thick glass. The tank is for the LFS front window.

Its not mine, it belongs to a friend of mine he is the LFS owner, not sure what he is going to do. It's going in the front window so he wants big fish in it

If it is in front of a window that has sunlight hitting it, he/she will have not only heat issues but algae issues as well. Not to mention that it is too deep for any artificial light under 1,000 watts per bulb to penetrate.

My god haven't thought of any of those issues damn I guess I will just break it into smaller tanks. Thanks for pointing that out.

I think we are trying to have this one set up before feb 11. Just depressed about having to move it again.

Acutally, sunlight won't cause algae, only causes it grow. Algae outbreaks are due to excess nutrients, poor water flow, over feeding or a host of other water quality issues. If you search around you'll find a lot of natural sunlight tanks.
This is an inground tank that has no lighting other than sun/moon. The front top part is glass so that you can see into the pool.

That's a huge tank, can't even imagine trying to move or lift it...Why didn't the guy go with acrylic?

That is impressive set up there. What do you have in there
The main reason I think for not going acrylic is the cost and up here acrylic is not common and defeintly not cheap.

LOL.....The above pic is not my tank, There are several corals, some clams, few fish etc....When you think about it, this pond/tank gets all the moon phases, fluctuations in daily light, clody days and other little things we don't factor into a tank. I know of atleast a dozen or so tanks that have natural sunlight.
I can only assume that it's going to be a FOWLR tank, should look very impressive

I didn't know you where the only one on this thread that could keep fish alive jonthefishguy. And just for your info there are automated shades on timers for the day time, the tank will only be displayed to the outside at night. And 400 watt M/H will penetrate that tank just fine.

But thanks for the nice comments once again

That is one cool setup, and finally someone that knows what they are talking about , according to jonthefishguy the ocean would be over grown by algae

Canadians....go figure!!!! If you think that a 400 watt metal halide is going to penetrate a just under 4ft deep aquarium and still be fine for reef which was the reason I made the comment on lighting as it was just an observation if it were going to be setup as one.....think again. But hey, your canadian. You know everything. And my comment on algae wasnt the fact that you were going to get hair algae, it was that you would have to constantly clean the glass everyday as the green film would build up a lot faster than normal. But I guess you knew that being as smart as you think you are. Obviously you cant tell the difference between someone just giving you heads up on a potential problem and a negative sarcastic remark.

Well I'm Sooorrry jon if we upset you
But if it was left in your hands I have a funny feeling you would destroy alot of setups
. And for your information there is a 40" deep tank running just an hour from me, and guess what he is running three 400 watt MH for the last three years, and would you know
everything is thriving in there.
You must be starving if you own a fish store, would you like some bread and good OLD CANADIAN BEEF to get you by
