I just break the pieces off with my fingers when they need cut back, then either let it lay on the bottom to grow or get covered with sand, trade some, or just pitch it(depends which one, I never throw out my orange or green w/purple rim). Capricornis Montipora are probably the hardiest of SPS, definitely not as difficult as Acropora. Digitata and encrusting monti's do pretty well also, don't grow as fast as the Caps though.
I guess the real question is What is this worth to you, whether it is common or not?
