OK..I did look and found some good sources of info on this clove oil (eugenol?)..sorry for the bleeding heart speech.
And I still will beg anyone to try their hardest to improve the animal's chances...and NO freezers, how horrifying.
I can't help feel that you and I have been over this fence before
Hope I wasn't wrong that time also!

I would do a major water change on the tank. I would not worry too much about ph unless its way out of wack. Just declor the water and get it to temp. You may want to add some salt (rock or aquarium salt helps, or even table salt as long as its not iodized)
It does sound like that fish has sapronella (cotton disease). Potassium Permangante at 2% solution will knock off all fungal growths internally and externally and in general help that fish overall, however PP is hard to find and not exactly cheap to buy......bout $26 for a 2 pound container or so in most places that sell it. I buy it in 55# pails for $115 a pail. I wuld send you some but unfortunately the terrorists and back yard drug labs has made procurement and shipping of this chemical almost impossible anymore. YOU maya check lowes pond section as they may have some left in small quanities used to oxidize ponds etc. MOst lowes have stopped getting it in however.
YOu can also get some furanase which is a anti fungal med which works and also provides some antibiotic regimine as well. Best is the antibiotics I listed above, which can be gotten in ***** or petsmart. Heated water works better with salt and anti fungal meds as well as anti biotics but make sure you have good aeration as well, and remove any activated carbon from fitler while treating or it removes the med's and does the fish no good. YOu can try a strong dip of malachite Green and formaldehyde also. If nothing else do major water change on tank with other fish and do daily water changes with salt on the sick fish. Good water can be just as beneficial in lots of cases tnan any med can, but with it having clamped up fins and loss of scales the fish is oging to be fighting a uphill battle all the way. Often times their own body defense mechanisim does make miraculous recoveries, but this fish sounds like its pretty well doomed no matter what you do..especially if yu can not knock off the fungal and start with proper antibiotics.
Out of curiosity and ot to criticise, what did you treat it with?

I am going to go ahead and lock this thread as it's usefulness has come and gone. The author of the thread has not commented in many, many posts and I believe that it has become a joke. A bad one at that. Barry
