Humu Humu love stories

After all of the horror stories about Picasso's, does anyone have any feel good stories. I have a Humu that's been with some of the same fish for over 2 years. Never seen one sign of aggression. Even with the newer additions to the tank he's never nipped or chased or intimidated into a corner. He waits like a puppy to be fed, and isn't so zealous at feeing time that he in unaware of those around him. I have seen some nasty triggers, so I'm hoping I just got one of the good ones, but after reading a number of other posts on this site, i'm now hoping with my fingers crossed.

ive seen one good trigger in my life, it was a clown that was like 8 or 9 in long and was w/ a remora, snapper, grouper and two adult volitans and a loose corn snake from time to time

I have a huma huma, he is fine so far. Him and my porkypine puffer try and race each other the the krill, but other then that he's been good. I to have been nervous about him going on a killing spree. I have my fingers closed. I got him when he was really really little. I have had him about 9 months now. But some of the story's I have heard about they've had them for years before anything happened.

i think they all eventually snap, theres always the "mines a perfect little guy" but i think even then that same trigger will snap

with all of the horror stories, what puzzles me is why nearly all of the books out there list the huma as among the most docile of the triggers???? granted that's a relative statement, and many books are forced to make broad generalizations about species, yet I've seen it numerous times.

its just like when the books say volitans need a minimal of a 55 when most ppl agree lions need a 125 minimum

Yes Lions Need ATLEAST A 125. I had a Lion in a 55 for two days and realized he was under extreme stress and moved him to a larger home. He was near full size for captivity and when his spines were spread they literally would almost rub on the front and back of the glass in the 55. Not wide enough at all !

I've never had a humu humu, but if I ever get an aggressive tank, that's going to be my prized fish. I think they're so damn awesome.

I put a Huma Huma in my tank and he ate 3 damsels within 1 minute. I took him back to lfs because my wife and kids were pissed. They informed me they haven't fed him in 3 days because they were out of guppys. That kind of made me mad that the only feed em that often. I also read that they were good for a community tank.

I'm surprised they were feeding the humu live food at the fish store, i've never known a trigger to be picky about food. that's semms to be just asking for trouble. I've got about a dozen snails and a dozen small hermits in my tank with mine. I got them for free and was hoping that they might help with a little clean up before they got eaten, but so far they've been in there for over 2 months and as of my last count they're all still in there.

HAHA so much personality LOVE THIS FISH.....
I plan on getting a porcupine puffer, a tomato clown and a yellow tang later.

Is that humu humu in your 46? You do realize the get pretty huge right? There is also NO WAY you should put a porcupine puffer in a tank that small.

well obviously I know in time it will get bigger but for now its perfect. My humu is like 2inches, Im aware of all the concerns of putting fish in a tank this small. But lets be realistic not all of us can afford a 100+gal tank. Those were just ideas to of what I might but in. And don't get me wrong im not trying to fire back at you because i know you were just being nice about it. For now everything is going awesome and if need be I will upgrade, but its not like this hobby is cheap lol.
