I have a 72 gal in the third week of cycle and everything WAS going perfectly....We are 40 miles inland from the Gulf Coast in Houston. We expect to loose power for 3-6 days. Any advise on water temp, filtration?

if your tank is only in cycle i know it sucks but if it was me i would simply wait it out. basic battery opperated air pump and thats it. if you want you cuold stick that unto a sponge filter but since your still in cycle with no live stock (atleast i hope not) you really have nothing to worry about. at the most it will just set you back a bit in the cycle which is a small price to pay considering it could be a full blown reef. stay safe gl to ya

Having been thru Ivan, Dennis, and a little of Katrina, all I can say is make sure YOU and your family are safe first! If your home is in a safe location then I have one word for you:
Generator

I got mine at Lowes and kicked myself for not doing it sooner. Get enought extension cords to run to each room of your home/apartment, and lagre fans to keep you cool. The generator cost about $700.00 and is worth every penny.

If you cannot get a generator, then stock up on Ice and possibly a battery powered pump/powerhead.
Just my thoughts and above all...Be safe! "Riding out" these storms is not a good idea. I'll be having my hurrican party in Pensacola and thinking of you all. We took 20,000# of food and supplies to Waveland Mississippi last weekend, guess I'll be heading to Galvaston next... :notsure:

Should the hurricane remain a Cat 5.........it could be weeks not days before power is restored. Given the size of this monster...plus the distance you are located from the coast...you will see considerable damge. I beleive your tank will be the least of your worries should you receive a direct hit. The strom will destroy buildings in your area. Most wood constructed homes will be wiped out should you suffer a direct hit. Winds will most likely be stronger on the next advisory..accuweather is predicting winds 175-180 later tongight. It may not maintain this strength ..but it will still be a monster 40 miles inland.

Dxtr...all is well on the west side of Houston. We really dodged a bullet. Never went through anything like this...the largest evacuation in our Nations history. My hat is off to the Mayor of Houston, Bill White. Mayor Nagen (New Orleans)....take note of true leadership....I am proud to be a Texan!
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers
